Mail Gnomes

They watched and they waited,

for the white postal van.

Then hid behind trees,

and stalked the mailman!

Soon letters went missing,

and boxes disappeared,

All taken by short little men,

with white beards.

There lived on our street,

two families of gnomes.

Now normally they would,

just stay in their homes.

But the strangest thing happened,

every day around noon,

They lined the front sidewalk,

just like a platoon.
